Okay! I’m playing catch up here, so get ready for a couple posts in a row.
After conquering the 6 mile southern chunk of the Big Hole Crest Trail, I thought it was time to head out for the next canyon to canyon loop. This was from Grove Creek trailhead, past Red Mountain, and up to the Patterson Creek trailhead.
What I thought would be a 4 hour hike, turned out to be about 13 miles and 6 hours long. Blistered and sunburned, I returned home exhausted but feeling accomplished. It was great to see how far my feet could take me, and the wildflowers alone were completely worth it.
One unexpected aspect of the trip was the new perspective I got. I traveled far enough north to be able to catch a glimpse of the back side of Buck mountain – on the south end of the Tetons main peaks.
